Homeschool Curriculum for Multiple Kids of Various Ages

The hardest part of homeschooling is picking a curriculum. The options and prices are endless and let’s be honest, there is a LOT of pressure when deciding to homeschool. By keeping this record of everything we used, I hope I am able to help at least one intimidated-but-excited fellow homeschool parent.

Before you dive in, these are the key aspects I looked for:

  • Parent Guide – I didn’t want there to be any guess work. I needed the curriculum to provide everything I needed to know or tell my children.
  • ADHD friendly – I need short, but powerful lessons.
  • Multiple kids – I need something easy to organize, navigate, and store. I don’t have a lot of room to store fifty-leven books and manipulatives. I also don’t want to become stressed out trying to find who needs what.
  • Budget friendly – I am CHEAP. I want something of good value, but at a good price.

NOTE – I am Texas based. Every state has their own homeschool requirements. Make sure whatever you decided to do follows your state requirements.

2023 – 2024

Toddler – No structured curriculum, yet. We were gifted a Panda Crate subscription from Kiwi Co that she absolutely loves. Other than that, we just utilize what we have at home – pointing out colors of toys, sounds of animals that we see, naming basic emotions, and identifying body parts.

Kindergarten – The Good and The Beautiful Math and Language Arts.

Second Grade – The Good and The Beautiful Math and Language Arts.

Because it is our first year, we chose to focus on math and language arts. We started out using the free PDFs, but after a few weeks, we bought math. Both courses can be used without purchasing anything, but we really enjoyed having the unique manipulatives that came with the math box. Both math boxes were small, so they were easy to store and not jam-packed with a million pieces. In both courses, the lessons are short and a lot of the times, the Kindergartener can complete the review problems alone. Both courses also provide various ways to reinforce the learning that keep school time engaging. Furthermore, the Language Arts courses include geography, writing, poetry, and art. The curriculum is Christian based, but it is not denomination specific and, so far, does not teach anything religious other than appreciating the world God created.

Next year, we plan on using: The Good and The Beautiful again. We will use First Grade and Third Grade Math and Language Arts. We will add in Science – Wonders of Energy and Simple Machines. I am currently searching for a Spanish curriculum. I am adding these dry erase sleeves. Each day, we will slip them over the lessons we are working on. That way I can reuse the workbooks with each child – like I said…CHEAP! [For record keeping, each unit has a “test”, I will print the pdf versions of the test and keep those. I don’t keep individual worksheets. However, I do keep a few writing samples each year.]
